IMOLA (Bologna) – The Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday had important news concerning the next edition of the Under-23 Giro d’Italia. In 2018 the baby Giro will grow further: there will be three additional competition days. It will start on Thursday, June 7 with an evening prologue in the city of Forlì, followed by nine stages through Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto, concluding on Saturday, June 16 in Veneto with a 23-km time trial.
“We will have a 3-4 km evening prologue in Forlì – Italian team manager Davide Cassani told Luca Gialanella of La Gazzetta dello Sport-, starting at the Servadei velodrome and finishing downtown. The second stage, for sprinters, will run from Riccione to Forlì. And the third one from Nonantola, home of the historic Giacobazzi team (Editor’s note: Pantani rode with this team), towards Lombardy. We will touch four regions, one more than in 2017: the big moments will take place on the Trentino and Veneto mountains.“
