Wearing the first Enel maglia Rosa of the 43rd edition of the World’s most coveted and prestigious course for riders under 23, is the spanish Alejandro Ropero Molina. He won the first stage in Urbino; 2nd place for Henri Vandenabeele, 3rd Antonio Tiberi.
Sunday 30th August – 2nd stage: GRADARA – RICCIONE
The 125 km. long second stage (1,300 m. altitude gap) takes us from Marche to Emilia-Romagna. It starts in Gradara, one of the most beautiful medieval villages of Italy, and heads north to Riccione, a town which has been good friends with the Giro d’Italia Under 23 also in previous years.
From Gradara, one of the novelties of the 2020 Giro d’Italia U23 course, the race heads inland to reach the first cat 3 KOM 69 km. into the race (Pietrarubbia, 5.5 km with a 5.3% average gradient from the Frontino junction to the top). Then it descends toward the Adriatic and passes through the intermediate sprint in Mercatino Conca in a fast ride to the finish line in Riccione.
